Aurélien Guichard creates every MATIERE PREMIERE fragrance. The Perfumer creates his compositions around a central natural ingredient, used in generous quantities. This approach defines the Maison’s style and underpins every fragrance gift set in the collection. The Founder and Perfumer selects the essences and absolutes based on their olfactory profile, their terroir and the extraction methods used. This process gives each fragrance an immediate personality, evident from the moment it is applied. 

Ingredients grown in Grasse

Aurélien Guichard grows three ingredients himself in the Grasse region: Centifolia rose, tuberose and lavandin. His fields are Ecocert-certified. Each harvest is entirely dedicated to a MATIERE PREMIERE creation: the rose for Radical Rose, the tuberose for French Flower and the lavandin for Metal Lavender. A perfume gift set may therefore include a fragrance composed around an essence or an absolute sourced directly from the perfumer’s own fields.

The Extrait Discovery Set

The Extrait de Parfum Discovery Set brings together fragrances in extract concentration, in 1.5 ml sample sizes. The extract concentration (25%–30%) offers a rounder, deeper expression of the heart note. The sample size allows you to test each fragrance on your skin and clothing for a few days before choosing a full-size bottle. This set is designed for a loved one who wishes to explore the collection in a richer, more concentrated form.

The 6 ml Customisable Set

The Custom Set comprises 3 or 6 x 6 ml vials, which you can choose yourself from the collection. The 6 ml size comes straight from the perfumer’s atelier: it is the perfumers’ everyday tool for sampling ingredients and developing compositions. This size served as the inspiration for the Maison’s 50 and 100 ml bottles.
