Collection:Hair Perfume

Aurélien Guichard has adapted his original compositions, picturing a sheer veil around the wearer. Reduced in alcohol for an ultra-thin diffusion. Enriched with nourishing active ingredients.

The MATIERE PREMIERE hair perfume diffuses lightly and prolongs the scent of the Maison’s fragrances on the hair. A specially formulated composition, in keeping with the Eaux de Parfum and Extraits de Parfum.

What is a hair perfume?

A scented hair mist is a fragrance product designed to be applied to the lengths of the hair. The hair fragrance differs from eau de parfum in its formulation, volume, concentration and method of application. The hair perfume is sprayed from a distance, creating a fine veil that infuses the hair with a long-lasting scent. The hair mist forms part of the daily fragrance ritual, just like an eau de parfum or an extract.

A formulation designed for hair

The formulation of a scented hair mist is tailored to the hair fibre. The volume, concentration and composition differ from those of a fragrance worn on the skin or body. The fragrance settles gently on the lengths; the scent trail remains noticeable for several hours as the hair moves, and the fragrance accompanies the hair throughout the day. Hair perfume, also known as hair mist, becomes a daily part of a fragrance routine, a pleasure renewed with every spray.

The difference from a classic perfume

A classic perfume is worn on the skin and on clothing. The hair perfume is applied to the lengths of the hair, using a formula specifically designed for this purpose. The scented hair mist offers an alternative to traditional perfume for adding fragrance to the hair. It contains a high proportion of naturally derived ingredients, is phthalate-free, dye-free and vegan. The signature scent of a MATIERE PREMIERE scented hair mist is the same as that of the brand’s perfumes.

The MATIERE PREMIERE hair perfume

The MATIERE PREMIERE hair perfume follows the same approach as the Hand and Body collection. Aurélien Guichard has crafted the scent of each hair mist using his own fragrance formulas to highlight the lightest, most ethereal notes.

The benefits of the hair fragrance

The olfactory benefits of the MATIERE PREMIERE scented hair mist:

  • a fragrance that settles as a fine veil on the hair and moves with it
  • a scent that lingers for several hours after application
  • a cosmetic formulation designed to protect the hair and enhance its shine
  • a hair perfume worn either alongside a classic perfume or on its own
  • a formulation based on ingredients of natural origin, vegan, free from phthalates, colourants, sulphates, parabens and silicones
  • a daily olfactory ritual particularly recommended in summer
  • a concise and straightforward formulation

The olfactory composition of a MATIERE PREMIERE scented hair mist is simple. It places a single raw material at the heart of the composition and showcases it. This radical approach is the hallmark of the Maison’s scented mists. Like all MATIERE PREMIERE creations, the hair mist contains between 85% and 92% natural ingredients. The scent is immediate, distinct and consistent, from the very first spray to the lingering trail.

A distinctive olfactory signature

The olfactory signature of each MATIERE PREMIERE scented hair mist is instantly recognisable from the very first application. The naturally derived ingredients, the straightforward formulation and the choice of absolutes all contribute to a result that remains true to the raw material. The olfactory notes are built around a dominant natural ingredient, in keeping with the MATIERE PREMIERE signature.

An olfactory signature created by Aurélien Guichard

The scent of each MATIERE PREMIERE hair perfume is created by Aurélien Guichard. The Perfumer signs the fragrance just as he signs the Maison’s perfumes, using the same olfactory language and the same research into the raw materials. For each hair mist, he envisions a fine, airy veil and highlights the fragrance’s most fluid notes.

The Maison’s Founder and Perfumer

Aurélien Guichard is the Founder and Perfumer of MATIERE PREMIERE. He has crafted the Maison’s signature around raw materials, terroir and extraction. The hair fragrance extends this work into a format dedicated to the hair and to diffusing the fragrance like a halo, with the same rigour in its composition.

Ingredients grown in the Grasse region

Aurélien Guichard cultivates three ingredients in the Grasse region: Centifolia rose, tuberose and lavandin. These ingredients form the basis of the Maison’s creations, including perfumes, body care products, candles and scented hair perfumes. The connection to the terroir is direct, from field to bottle.

The collection of scented hair mists

The MATIERE PREMIERE range of scented hair mists brings the Maison’s signature scent to the hair. Each scented hair mist features a key ingredient:

  • Centifolia Rose Absolute from Grasse
  • Saffron Essence from Greece
  • Vanilla Absolute from Madagascar
  • Birch Tar from Finland
  • Ambrette Seed Absolute from Peru

Several types of scent are represented: floral, vanilla, woody, musk and leather. The selection is based on affinity with the key ingredient, its region of origin and the desired olfactory signature. The development of a MATIERE PREMIERE scented hair mist is guided by the olfactory profile of each edition.

How to apply the hair perfume

Apply from a distance to dry hair. One spray, or occasionally two, is sufficient to infuse the lengths with the scented hair mist.

On the hair

Spray the scented mist onto the lengths of the hair from a distance of around twenty centimetres. The veil remains light, without weighing the hair down. Thanks to a lower alcohol content, the spray is ultra-fine. The scent of the scented hair mist remains noticeable as the hair moves. Applying the hair fragrance becomes a daily ritual, either on its own or to complement the perfume worn on the skin. This beauty ritual can be repeated throughout the day, depending on the scent and olfactory pleasure desired.

An extension of the fragrance, on the skin and clothing

The scented hair fragrance forms part of a wider well-being ritual. It can also be applied to the skin, as a continuation of the fragrance, and to clothing to anchor the scent trail. The fragrance signature of the perfumed hair mist is identical to that of the eau de parfum. To prolong the experience, MATIERE PREMIERE offers a selection of scented body care products featuring the same fragrance signature: moisturising Hand and Body Lotion and scented Hand and Body Wash

Frequently asked questions about the hair perfume

Can a hair perfume be used on the hair?

Yes. The MATIERE PREMIERE perfumed hair mist is formulated specifically for this purpose. The formula is designed to settle on the lengths of the hair as a fine veil. To use, simply spray the hair fragrance from a distance onto dry hair. It is formulated without sulphates, parabens or silicones to help protect the hair and enhance its shine.

What is a scented hair perfume used for?

A hair perfume diffuses the Maison’s signature fragrance over the hair like a halo. Among its benefits, the hair mist provides a long-lasting scent, a trail as the hair moves, and a daily olfactory experience, whether worn on its own or to complement the fragrance worn on the skin and body. In summer, it allows you to wear a fragrance when you do not wish to apply perfume to your skin.

How do you apply a hair perfume?

To apply the scented hair mist, hold the bottle about twenty centimetres away from dry hair. One spray is enough; two for a more pronounced scent. The mist settles on the lengths of the hair and flows with its movement.

Why choose a MATIERE PREMIERE hair perfume?

The scent of every MATIERE PREMIERE hair perfume is created by Aurélien Guichard, Founder and Perfumer. The minimalist formulation, the abundance of natural ingredients, the naturally derived components and the distinctive olfactory signature place the scented hair mist in the same category as the brand’s perfumes. The range allows you to choose a scented hair mist based on the raw materials, the region of origin and the quality of the olfactory result.
